“After being hit hard by China, we started to think that we needed a wider field in 2002. We wanted to develop something to protect the scaphoid – it’s a vulnerable bone. We came up with the SPS scaphoid protection system, and also looked at protecting the knuckle and putting it all into the one product. We got the exoskeleton developed and thought it look too good to give away to another manufacturer, so we decided to do it ourselves. We needed to round it off with the cuff, and that’s when we found the Boa system, so we started work with those guys. The Handroid has got a hell of a lot of parts in it, and it’s not cheap, but it works so well. But it’s bits like us using kangaroo leather at its natural thickness so hasn’t been thinned down that makes it such a complete product – and we’re always looking to improve it.
