Another A2 licence friendly machine
• Say hello to the new bike of the European Junior cup. Not only is the new CBR500R the machine that will blood new racers on in this WSB supported series, but it’ll be on sale in its street guise in 2013. This Thai built machine shares its 471cc parallel twin motor with two other new bikes in the range, the adventure based CB500X and a naked CB500F. all three machines can be ridden by A2 licence holders, and the friendly 46bhp output means that these are bikes that have no hidden surprises lurking within for new riders to stumble across. Spec wise, we’re not talking about sportsbike levels of sophistication. The chassis is based on the venerable old CB500, weight for the CBR is a porky 194kg and the suspension is non-adjustable, but for a likely price of under £5k, you can’t complain too much. All three bikes offer ABS, decent looks, frugal economy and a great step up into the big boys (and girls) class.
