It’s entirely possible to just stare at this photo for an age, isn’t it? Just allow yourself to delve deep into every dot that makes up this astounding image of the lad’s first proper MotoGP test.
Actually, we struggled to choose which image to use, as almost every one we saw of the kid from the Sepang test was jaw-dropping. Also jaw-dropping was his pace, which has been enough to give Valentino Rossi the right willies. Rossi’s nemesis over the past two years has been both himself and that difficult Ducati. While Vale eventually pipped Marc lap time-wise, it was by the smallest of margins, and it took him three days to overcome one diminutive Spaniard on a Honda.
Rossi may be back on a Yamaha, but he will be very lucky to best Dani Pedrosa and world champion, Jorge Lorenzo. Now, he’s got Marquez to consider too – and this may not be the prodigal return everyone has been hoping for.
But the best thing about Marquez is his timing. We honestly lament not having Casey Stoner around to watch any more, boy is he going to be missed, and boy do we think Ducati will go beyond the pale to try and tempt him back in 2014.
But we needn’t worry on the spectacular riding front; MM93 is clearly the real deal...
